Danongdafu Family Walk Carnival Launches, Sparking Sports Fever Ahead of World Dragon Boat Championships
The 2026 Danongdafu Family Walk Carnival will be held on March 15 at Danongdafu Forest Park in Hualien. The event combines leisure walking, family interaction and outdoor sports experiences, and is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants. A variety of performances and interactive activities will also be arranged on-site, creating a healthy, energetic, and family-friendly atmosphere. The Hualien County Government will release the official promotional video for the “2026 15th IDBF Club Crew World Championships (CCWC)” in conjunction with this event. By leveraging this large-scale outdoor gathering to attract crowds, Hualien County Government aims to build early momentum for the upcoming international dragon boat championships and demonstrate its commitment to promoting public participation in sports and aligning with the international sporting community.
Besides providing opportunities for the public to engage with nature and participate in sports, the event also serves as a platform for city marketing and international event promotion. The Hualien County Government will also screen the CCWC promotional video at the venue, officially launching the championships’ promotional campaign. By leveraging the strong participation and vibrant atmosphere of the Family Walk Carnival, the initiative aims to raise public awareness and anticipation of the 2026 CCWC, while strengthening local support as Hualien prepares to host this international sporting event.
According to the Hualien County Government, the CCWC promotional video is centered on the concept of “Champions Among Us,” highlighting the professionalism found across different walks of life. The video features professionals from various fields—fitness coaches, drivers, market vendors, and chefs—showcasing their focus and rhythm in their daily work. As their workday ends, they transform into dragon boat athletes, training and competing side by side. By interweaving the rhythm of everyday work with the synchronized motion of dragon boat paddling, the video conveys a shared sense of focus and passion, delivering the message: “Committed at work, committed on the water.”
The video also incorporates Hualien’s cultural atmosphere and natural landscapes, portraying the strength of teamwork through scenes of team assembly, paddling on the water, and synchronized movement. It concludes with the team launching together and facing the challenge ahead in unity, highlighting team spirit and the momentum of stepping onto the global stage, while extending an invitation to dragon boat teams worldwide to gather in Hualien in 2026 for the World Club Crew Championships.
Hualien County Magistrate Hsu Chen-wei stated that in 2026, Hualien will go on to host two major international sporting events—the International Children’s Games (ICG) and the 15th IDBF Club Crew World Championships (CCWC)—which are expected to attract athletes and teams from around the world. Through the release of the promotional video and related campaigns, the county aims to enhance public understanding of the events and the appeal of dragon boat racing, while building anticipation for the upcoming international competitions in Hualien.
